Editorial policy
Active Comedy Review aims to make clear, considered writing about comedy craft. We distinguish description from opinion, check factual details with care and correct errors openly when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and interpretation
We take care with names, dates, quotations and descriptions of works. When a piece makes an interpretation, we present it as a reading rather than a settled fact. We do not promise that a joke will work for every audience; comic effect depends on context, performance and the people receiving it.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for their relevance to the publication and its readers. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or a particular conclusion. If a relationship could affect how a piece is understood, we will explain it alongside the material.
Corrections
Readers can report a possible error through the Contact page. We review the point, amend confirmed mistakes and make a clear note when a correction changes a material detail. We do not silently recast a disputed opinion as a factual error.
Paid and partner material
Any paid or partner contribution will be clearly labelled where it appears. Such material is kept distinct from independent editorial work, and its label will not be replaced with wording that obscures the relationship.
A laugh has a shape
We pay attention to the small decisions behind comic work: what it sets up, what it withholds and when it changes direction.
